MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 9, 2009—PeopleNet® (www.peoplenetonline.com), announced today that Dohrn Transfer will begin to install PeopleNet’s Internet-based, integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems in January. Dohrn Vice President Joe Dohrn explained why the Rock Island, Ill., LTL is replacing its current system. “PeopleNet provides us a fool-proof process for getting accurate, real-time information we want from our drivers. The system we now have—software running on cell phones—is prone to error due to its limited nature, and it’s incompatible with the growing ban on texting. In addition to PeopleNet’s onboard computing system, the January installation of its first terminal will include PeopleNet applications that will cut Dohrn’s operating expenses and help the company enhance customer service. PerformX® engine monitoring will provide Dohrn’s management access to real-time driver and vehicle performance information they can use to improve MPG and safety, as well as reduce other costs.
